Sardinian warbler (Sylvia melanocephala) – size 5 inches

The Sardinian warbler (size  5 inches) is a bird from the family of the singers of the Old World (Sylviidae). It is a character bird of the Mediterranean with the males with a black head, red eye rim and iris whilst the females mainly brown on top with a grey head,  and with the young birds resembling the female. They can be found in maquis, the vegetation of shrubs around the Mediterranean and present throughout the year.
